The striking doctors under the umbrella body Uganda medical association (UMA) have rejected government orders to shun their ongoing strike and also threatened to withdraw healthy emergency services if the minister of health goes ahead to intimidate them.
According to their president Dr Obuku government is the major cause and organiser of the ongoing industrial action because it has not done what it’s supposed to do. There are no drugs, low human resource to attend to patients to an extent that hospitals have now been labelled as market for coffins.
Dr obuku said all this while addressing journalists in kampala in relation to the strike. Doctors said that they will only consider their actions after meeting president Museveni and if all chances of meeting him fail, automatically the strike will continue.
