After successfully knocking out Angola’s CD Primeiro De Agosto yesterday to advance to the first round of the Total CAF Champions league, Uganda’s ambassadors Kampala capital City Authority football club will now meet PSL challengers and African Champions Mamelodi Sundowns as their next opposition in the Africa club competition.
Mike Mutebi’s boys sealed their qualification on the away goals rule having lost the match 2-1 in Angola but had won the first leg 1-0 making a 2-2 on aggregate which was enough to book the reigning Ugandan champions to bring the Ugandan International and the 2016 African Player based in Africa Denis Onyango back home in an opposite team.
Veteran and experienced striker Geoffrey Serunkuuma scored the all-important two goals (in Angola away and at Phillip Omondi stadium in the first leg).
According to the information from Africa’s football top governing body CAF, KCCA FC will visit Sundowns on the weekend of March 10-12 at Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria before hosting the return leg on the weekend of March 17-19 at the Philip Omondi Stadium in Lugogo.
Basing on the strength of CD Primeiro De Agosto, Mamelodi Sundowns looks a hard team to beat but the coach mike promises to use the advantage of the Phillip Omondi stadium(it’s an artificial turf yet Sundowns plays on a nature grass stadium) to eject the African champions to reach the group stages.
The Ugandan heroes’ team KCCA FC that returns in the wee hours of Tuesday morning will turn its focus to the Azam Uganda Premier league as they host inform Onduparaka on February 25th at the Philip Omondi Stadium
