Unveiling the Artists: Sylvester and Abramz Uganda’s enduring HipHop Duo – #Bayimba2017

Sylvester & Abramz are one of Uganda’s most enduring HipHop duos. They have recorded and performed music since the ‘90s.

They have released several songs over the years and some of the notable ones are Lemerako, Kyendi Kyendi, Begendereze, Mpaayo Akaseera featuring Ssavoo, Mukkuse, Ziva Muntuuyo, Bangi, Mpereza Akazindaalo and Olabika Tommanyi etc.

Even with less airplay on local radio and TV stations, they have managed to keep their relevance in the game by continuing to produce music that has stood the test of the time in addition to spectacular performances in and outside Uganda.

Over the years, they have collaborated with both local and international Hip-hop acts. They have performed at ZIFF Festival in Zanzibar, My World Images Festival in Denmark, LaBa Street Art Festival, We Love Uganda, Hip-hop For Society, Breakfast Jam, Pearl Rhythm Festival and on their own concert held last year among others!

Abramz is a also a member of Rock Steady Crew (RSC), director/founder of Breakdance Project Uganda (BPU), a nonprofit organization which uses breaking and other elements of hip-hop to promote positive social change and social responsibility. Besides his work around various Ugandan communities, he’s also performed, taught and inspired people in many different parts of the world such as Zanzibar, Burkina Faso, Denmark, Poland, Italy, USA, South Africa, Senegal, Mozambique, Swaziland, Austria, Germany etc.

Sylvester is the coordinator for the Youth & Hip-hop Project, a youth program by Bayimba Foundation, with the overall aim of improving and bridging the socio-cultural and economic gap between youths in Uganda. Since the inception of the project in 2011, he has organized several workshops and performances in different parts of the country such as Gulu, Arua, Moroto, Mbale, Soroti, Kitgum, Lira, Jinja, Fort Portal and Mbarara.

They will be performing at the 10th Anniversary of the Bayimba Festival.
