Yesterday evening was a day full of happiness and jubilation for Uganda’s 2016 East African University games victors Kampala University ‘KU’ and Ndejje University’s students and fans as their Team excelled.
Ndejje remained unplayable in the region after retaining (the 3rd time in a raw) the Eastern Africa University Games (EAUG) overall title as the games ended at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology while Kampala University emerged champions of East African University football championship.
Coach Titi Kamala’s boys (KU) defeated University of Zanzibar 2-1 in finals yesterday 20th Dec 2016 at the closing ceremony held at Kenya’s Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology main grounds. Uganda’s Makerere University also emerged third after defeating Ndejje University 2-0 to win bronze.
The Luwero-based institution amassed 95 medals from all disciplines including 36 Gold, 29 silver and 30 Broze, They won in athletics, badminton, wood ball and table tennis, Hand ball, Basketball, Karati.
Ndejje was followed by Uganda’s Kyambogo University that finished 2nd that collected 24 medals – 17gold, 5 silver and 2 bronze.
UCU, who became the first private institution to host these games in 2012 finished 4th in the games well as Jomo Kenyatta University (the hosts) finished third with a distant 27 medals that included 7 gold, 10 silver and 10 bronze.
