With Just days left to the African cup of nations, Uganda Cranes has improved by a slot according to the latest FIFA / Coca Cola Rankings released on yesterday evening (Thursday, 22nd December 2016).
According to the monthly ranking released at the headquarters of the world football body (FIFA) in Zurich, Micho’s boys Climbed one place from 73rd to 72rd with 490 point.
IN CECAFA Region
Uganda still maintained top spot in the Council for East and Central African Football Associations region with Kenya coming second and 89th, Rwanda is third and 92nd, Ethiopia fifth and 113th, Sudan sixth and 135th while Burundi is seventh and 138th and Tanzania eighth and at 156th.
Djibouti, Eritrea and Somalia are all jointly ranked at 205th position with Anguilla, Bahamas, Gibraltar and Tonga.
Uganda’s Opponents at AFCON 2017:
Uganda’s opponents at the AFCON 2017 finals in Gabon have more or less the same story lines in the released rankings. The Pharaohs of Egypt remains the highly ranked team in the group at 36th, Ghana second at 56th and Mali third who have also improved by one place to 60th.
From the African content Uganda is 18th well as Senegal tops the list with 755 points and 33rd in the world, Côte d’Ivoire come second 746 points in the 34th position, Tunisia is third with 738 points placed 35th Egypt is fourth and Algeria is fifth.
Argentina takes the number position 1634 points, while fellow South American giants Brazil moved to second place and world cup champions German placed third.
Chile is fourth, Beligum fifth, Columbiasixth, France seventh, European champions Portugal are eighth, Spain tenth, England thirteenth Italy sixteen
According to the federation of international football association (FIFA), the next Coca-Cola sponsored World Ranking will be published on Thursday 12 January 2017.
