It was all happiness for Uganda Cranes supporters, as their team surprised them yesterday with a 1-0 victory away to Cape Verde in the Total Africa Cup of Nations 2019 qualifiers.
KCCA FC Veteran striker Geoffrey Serunkuma who had just been introduced netted Uganda’s important goal in the 83rd that earned Cranes three points to move to the top of the group followed by Tanzania and Lesotho the made a 1 all draw in the other group game played on Saturday.
Cranes now lead the group with three points, followed by Tanzania and Lesotho in second and third position at 1 Point each well as Cape Verde are at the bottom with zero point.
Serunkuma replaced SC Villa’s Emmanuel Okwi in the 75th minute after he picked up a yellow card and it took him only fives to score that only important goal for cranes.
In other substitutes Micho took off Isaac Muleme for a striker Milton Karisa and Cranes had four strikers on the pitch Okwi, Miya Faruku, Derrick Nsibambi just at the start of the second half.
Initially this game was slated for Saturday but was postponed to 24 hours because of the Cranes delayed in Dakar, Senegal with an alleged technical flight excuse.
The players are expected back in Uganda in the wee hours of tomorrow at 3am
