The late Hon Jack Maumbe Mukhwana died on Tuesday of cancer on his way to the hospital in Kampala from Mbale.
According to the members of parliament he saved the life of our president Museveni in the 1970’s during the regime of Obote’s army. The August house paid tribute to the comrade and more so extended their sincere condolences to the family and as well appreciates the government for having supported and honored the late.
About Maumbe Mukhwana
He was born into a family of a county chief which enabled him to be exposed in politics, which shaped him into a man of justice and fairness for the independence of our country Uganda. In 1980’s the late was part of the struggle for the liberation of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) government and was a former minister, it was sad that he was dropped from the government in 2001 when still strong enough to serve the country.
Being a senior comrade in the political struggle of Uganda, he accentuated so much in uniting the politicians of Bugishu region and Eastern at large hence a great loss to them and the country at large. The late honorable who was the Resident District Commissioner of Mbale district was referred to as a father, freedom fighter, a compassionate and a patriotic person and the president always great him especially during the launching of the book known as the “mastered seed”.
