The leader of opposition in parliamentHonorable Winnie kizza has resorted to dodging meetings organized by the speaker of parliament; Honorable Rebecca Kadaga and the meeting in question was scheduled on Wednesday this week. According to sources close to the speaker’s office, the meetings were intended to discuss guidelines on how MPs were to consult their voters over the ongoing article 102b which talks about age limit removal.
Now for the past 14 days ,the speaker has been seen trying to reconcile with her fellow members through continuous visits to MPs said to be injured in the violence that was showcased in parliament that left some bedridden due to the pains which were inflicted on them by the said special forces command (SFC).
Speaking to press in her office at parliament on Thursday 12th – October, Honorable Kizza noted that she had received a letter from the speaker Rebecca kadaga inviting her for the meeting whose agenda had not been highlighted .she continued further that the meeting was not necessary since guidance on the consultation had already been given to them in the house before seating’s were adjourned.
“The invitation was not in any way indicating if we were going to discuss on how we should go about with the consultations because never at any time has the speaker given us guidelines on how to consult on matters that appear on the floor .for us we know how we have always consulted our people and so we don’t need her guidance. “kizza went further to say that the only people who needs guidance here is the Inspector general of police Kale Kayihura who is making it so impossible for members opposing the removal of the age limit bill (Togikwatako) , she concluded.
