Kyabazinga William Nadiope’s New problem: Finding a queen for Busoga

During the festivities to usher in the new year in Busoga held at Bugembe stadium, just down the hill from the Kyabazinga’s Igenge Palace, something happened that shocked most Basoga who have come to love their King.

Kyabazinga William Nadiope

As the clock hit Midnight,  and the countdown was about to start, someone in the crowd shouted in Lusoga, ”Mama Aliwa?” Or where is Queen?

While the question was ignored, it has not been very far off from the lips of the Kyabazinga’s Subjects who think their 28-year-old King should be starting a family by now.

The Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi of Buganda also had to be pushed into marriage, so maybe it is a habit for Kings to dilly dally.

The Kyabazinga’s Mistake and the Price of fame

Growing up, the then Prince William Nadiope who had lost his parents at a much younger age, was already known to Basoga as their future King, this meant that dating opportunities for him as a teenager were rare, ”every girl wanted him because he was a prince and not because he was a handsome young man” One of his subjects told us.

Because of this, the Kyabazinga fell in love with Hilda Ziribwende a Munyakore girl who didn’t know he was a prince.  Unfortunately for him, he was chosen to lead his people and a queen from Ankore was unwelcome, the young couple was forced to Break up.

Now the King at 28 years, must find love at an age when most of his peers are consolidating love and getting married.

He has dated a string of Basoga girls, However, a one Josephine Tibyonza and a girl who has only been identified as Shakira Valentine seem to stand out for him.

Josephine was the girl who lost the Kyabazinga to Hilda when they were still at Kyambogo University, but now that Hilda is out of the Play and the Kyabazinga needs a Musoga Queen, she is said to be back in play.

We wait to see the Choices the King will make, but Basoga have spoken. They want a mother.
