Government investigating Minister Ronald Kibuule for slapping female guard

The government of Uganda is investigating the Minister for water Hon. Ronald Kibuule over allegations that he slapped a security guard at Stanbic bank.

The prime minister of Uganda Rt Honourable Ruhakana Rugunda this morning took to twitter to say the government was very concerned about the incident and was investigating the circumstances under which it happened.

“Government is concerned about the reported incident involving Hon. Kibuule. The matter is being investigated and action will depend on the results,” He said

“We would like not only Ugandans but everybody to be treated properly and with respect. As leaders, we must provide good examples to those we lead,” he added.

It is alleged that the Minister who had visited the bank on Friday last week to carry out a transaction refused to undergo a security check conducted by a female guard, Hellen Obuku  and then assaulted her. However, the minister says he did not assault the security guard. He says he only asked to be checked by a male security guard instead of the female one.

In a police statement shortly after the scenario, Obuku said that when she insisted on checking Hon. Kibuule as is required of every customer accessing the bank, the Minister punched her in the chest which the Minister has since denied.
