Roast and Rhyme, an outdoor event organized by Swangz Avenue has become a household event in a way that creates FOMO (fear of missing out) whenever it is advertised or when one mentions when the next edition will take place.

Happening for the third time and at the same venue (Jahazi Pier) in Munyonyo, thousands thronged the venue last evening (Sunday ) for the edition that was dubbed Reggae Nyam Nyam’.

Roger Mugisha was the host of the event

As the major deal behind Roast and Rhyme is roasting meat and Rhyming with the music on stage, revelers decided to add in a little bit of drinking to make the combination complete, I mean, Roast, Rhyme and drink. With this, Uganda Breweries with it’s beer brand Bell Lager provided the drinks for the revelers.

The well attended event saw Benon and Vamposs reuniting, not to do move all over again but to perform and remind people of their days at the event. They performed all their songs that got people on their feet and dancing along, they also sang to songs like I know, She’s my lady, Nsazewo and mumulete among others. They then came back to the new times of Vampino without Benon, Vampino did songs like Kwekunyakunya, Love to dance, Amabanja and Smart Wire among others.

The event host later ushered in Bebe Cool’s Gagamel band that played for Chizzo, one of the singers in Gagamel and later Bebe Cool came on stage performing all his Reggae songs like Trouble, African Girl among others before he switched to dancehall. He started with Fire Burn them when he called on Dizzy Nuts on stage and followed by his other songs like Ki Ekiganye, Kabulengane and Sente among others.

Performances ended at around 9:40pm when DJ Crim took to the stage and span the disc as revelers departed at leisure.
