It seems like Shoprite Lugogo never cares about their customer’s safety but all they care about is the supermarket making money. In 2015, the meat section of the supermarket was closed down by Kampala City Council Authority (KCCA) after finding out that the meat the supermarket was selling to its’ customers was stale and not good for consumption.
The same thing happened again yesterday when KCCA officials during their regular inspections found the meat section of the supermarket with rotten meat again. This led to the temporal closure of the meat section and as you read this, customers are not accessing that point.
It is said that management of Shoprite Lugogo ignored three slips for violations and two final warnings for safety meat rules was before it was closed yesterday .
The owners were given ample time to take corrective measures but their efforts ended in vain and the charges pointed out by KCCA against shoprite lugogo included lack of meat control certificates ,displaying expired meat to customers and general lack of hygiene at the meat section.
