The Mmamba Clan (Lung Fish) which is one of Buganda Kingdom’s largest Clans is planning to build a 4 Billion shillings heritage center at a place called Nkaja off Entebbe road and the Chief Guest will be Prince David Wasajja, the Kabaka’s younger brother.
It is believed that at Nkajja the Clan’s first head Gabunga rested after he helped Ssekabaka Kimera defeat the Dictator King Bemba Musota in the 14th Century.
And it here at this site that the clan wants to build its heritage center.
Currently, Kingdoms in Uganda are not using their rich cultural heritage to tell their stories and it is hoped the Mmamba Clan Heritage center will be the beginning and will be emulated by other Kingdoms.
The Mmamba clan used to provide soldiers to the Buganda’s Kingdom’s royal Navvy and the Clan leader also known as Gabunga, was the King’s Navy Chief.
Uganda Tourism Board Deputy Chief Executive officer John Ssempebwa is quoted in the Newvision saying the Heritage center will help create almost 100 jobs, and will help diversify the tourism options available for tourists in Uganda.
To achieve this goal of building a heritage site, the clan will be holding a fundraising dinner at the Kololo Gardens on the 8th of December.
Where most of the money will be raised.
The Chief Guest at the Dinner will be Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi’s Kid brother Prince David Wasajja.
Fee is Only 100,000 shillings.
